Overview

The Synaptics Astra SL2610 product line marks the debut of the SL2600 series in the Astra AI MPU family. It is a set of five AI-native Linux and Android SoC families — SL2611, SL2613, SL2615, SL2617 and SL2619 — built on Arm Cortex-A55 and Cortex-M52 cores with Helium vector extensions, transformer-capable NPUs, and 3D GPUs with OpenGL and Vulkan support. Synaptics describes the family as one silicon foundation expressed across five parts for HMI, vision and voice workloads.

The line is powered by Synaptics' Torq Edge AI platform, which Synaptics says delivers the first production deployment of Google's RISC-V-based Coral NPU with dynamic operator support, paired with an open-source IREE/MLIR compiler and runtime. A limited-edition Coral Dev Board built by Grinn with Google Research integrates a 1 TOPS Torq NPU, and a Toradex partnership brings Torizon support to the Astra family with planned SL2610 coverage. The processors are aimed at smart appliances, home and factory automation, charging infrastructure, healthcare devices, retail POS and scanners, autonomous robots and UAVs.

Key Benefits

Transformer-capable NPUs for multimodal generative AI at the IoT edge. Five scalable families from one silicon foundation, letting a design scale across HMI, vision and voice variants. Open toolchain: IREE/MLIR compiler and runtime with a future-proof NPU architecture. Power efficiency tuned for always-on and battery-adjacent edge devices. Broad ecosystem spanning Toradex Torizon, Grinn modules and a Google Research Coral NPU implementation.

Applications

Smart home and factory automation controllers, EV charging infrastructure, healthcare and wearable devices, retail point-of-sale and scanner terminals, autonomous robots and UAVs, HMI panels, and voice or vision gateways running multimodal models on-device.
