Overview
The Horizon Robotics Journey 6 family is a scalable automotive edge AI SoC line rather than a single part. Compute spans 10 TOPS at the entry of the family up to 560 TOPS at the top, so one architecture and toolchain covers everything from basic driver assistance to advanced urban autonomous driving. That scalability is the point: OEMs can carry software across vehicle programmes without changing suppliers.
The flagship Journey 6P carries a 4-core Nash Brain Processing Unit, an 18-core CPU rated at 410K DMIPS and image processing throughput of 5.3 gigapixels per second, built from roughly 37 billion transistors on TSMC's 7 nm process. It is positioned for high-end full-scenario NOA deployments and runs Horizon's SuperDrive (HSD) system. BYD is the headline initial customer.
The family sits in the same automotive edge AI segment as Black Sesame's Huashan A2000 and Ambarella's N1 series, but Horizon's differentiator is ecosystem breadth: it has built an alliance of sensor, software and tier-1 partners around the Journey line, and its roadmap publicly targets the next generation with the Journey 7 family announced for 2027.
Key Benefits
One architecture from 10 to 560 TOPS so a single software stack spans entry assistance and full-scenario NOA; high-throughput perception with 4-core Nash BPU, 5.3 GP/s image processing and 410K DMIPS of CPU; production traction with BYD as an initial Journey 6P customer; mature software in Horizon SuperDrive; and a published 2027 roadmap that protects multi-year design decisions.
Applications
Advanced driver assistance and full-scenario NOA; urban autonomous driving; intelligent-vehicle perception stacks; driver and occupant monitoring; and physical-AI and robotics platforms reusing automotive-grade compute.
