Overview

The GIGABYTE DDR5-7200 256 GB CQDIMM was introduced at CES 2026 as the first 256 GB DDR5 module to run at DDR5-7200, using CQDIMM (clocked unbuffered DIMM) technology. High-capacity DDR5 modules have historically dropped their rated clock to stay stable; CQDIMM adds clock-driver and power-management support on the module so full capacity can run at high data rates.

The combination of 256 GB and DDR5-7200 is relevant to workstation and edge-server workloads — large model caches, virtualisation and in-memory analytics — that need both capacity and bandwidth in a single DIMM.

Key Benefits

256 GB capacity at DDR5-7200 · CQDIMM clocked-unbuffered design · high capacity without the usual clock penalty · CES 2026 announcement.

Applications

High-capacity workstations, in-memory analytics, virtualisation hosts and memory-hungry AI/edge workloads.
