Overview

The RZ/V2H-EVK is Renesas' evaluation kit for the RZ/V2H, a vision-oriented MPU built around four Arm Cortex-A55 Linux cores at 1.8 GHz, dual Cortex-R8 real-time cores at 800 MHz and a Cortex-M33, together with the company's DRP-AI3 dynamically reconfigurable AI accelerator. A second DRP block handles image processing such as OpenCV routines and the dynamics calculations used in robotics, so general-purpose CPU load stays low.

The kit ships as a CPU board plus an expansion board and exposes power, UART, Ethernet, camera connectors and GPIO headers. It provides LPDDR4/LPDDR4X 3200 memory at 32-bit width, PCIe Gen3 with four lanes, USB 3.2 SuperSpeed, six CAN-FD channels and three SD host interfaces. Optional functions include an image signal processor, the GE3D 3D graphics engine and Trusted Secure IP. Power is delivered over USB Power Delivery, and a 100 W-capable adapter and cable are required but not included.

On the software side the kit runs Renesas' AI SDK, with documented BSP build, SD-card boot, xSPI boot and eMMC boot flows. The AI Model Deployer GUI integrates with NVIDIA's TAO Toolkit so object-detection and classification models can be trained and then translated for the DRP-AI3 hardware, which requires INT8 quantization. Typical deployments include autonomous robots, gesture-controlled manipulation and factory machine vision. QS Compute supplies the RZ/V2H-EVK and companion camera modules.

Key Benefits

Purpose-built AI accelerator: the DRP-AI3 block plus a second DRP for image processing and robotics math keeps CPU headroom high. Rich real-time and industrial I/O: dual Cortex-R8, six CAN-FD channels, PCIe Gen3 x4 and USB 3.2 on one kit. Complete AI toolchain: AI SDK, model deployer and NVIDIA TAO Toolkit integration with a documented INT8 path. Camera and vision focused: MIPI camera connectors and ISP option tuned for vision applications.

Applications

Autonomous mobile robots and robotics vision, factory automation machine vision, people-counting and occupancy analytics, access control and visitor monitoring, agricultural monitoring, and other edge deployments requiring low-power real-time AI inference with video streaming.
